Project Food Blog

A massive part of starting a food blog is to become part of the food community and like I have mentioned earlier I have recently joined foodbuzz.com.
On the site I am a featured publisher and have recently entered Project Food Blog. I like to push myself and I have nothing to loose and everything to gain. Then again I am also sitting here thinking WHAT HAVE I GOT MYSELF INTO.

Project Food Blog currently has over 1600 entrants worlwide competing to be the 2011 FoodBuzz star! There are 10 challenges in total. You start with the first one and if your blog for that challenge is good enough, you progress to the next stage and so on. What I didn't realise until after I entered the competition is that 3 of the 10 challenges take place while I am overseas. My first entry I should be able to do before I go, but I would love to make it to the third level at least. Then part of my challenge will also be trying to convince some unsuspecting local to let me cook in their kitchen!

I don't make things easy for myself do I. But that is all part of the fun don't you think? Pushing the limits and all those other competitive cliches that you hear. My Food Safari has now turned into a combination of MasterChef and the Amazing Race.

Can I win it?? Maybe. Will I do everything I can to try? Sure will. Will it be a bumpy ride. Definitely? So join me, support me, let me know someone out there "has got my back" as they say. Surely a Kiwi in Queensland can give them a run for their money.

Oh and check out my competition profile by clicking here!

  1. Hey Mel,
I have another way potentially for you to spread the word about your blog. It's a website I have been writing for the past nine months called Fridge to Food (http://www.fridgetofood.com). It's a recipe community that's... well... somewhat different from all the various other foodie communities. Which is why I wrote it, I wasn't satisfied with the ones that existed. I don't make any money off of it, I'm a science teacher in Thailand. I made it just because I wanted to see it exist (and I wanted to be able to use it). Check it out and let me know what you think! If you like it, sign up and start posting your recipes!
